The first school in Berkhamsted to be inspected by Ofsted since the town began its transition from three- to two-tier education has been rated ‘good’ in all areas.
The rating at the Thomas Coram C of E School comes after it switched from being a middle to a junior school in September.
Robin Halls became its new headteacher and a new management team was appointed to help him.
Mr Halls said: “We are delighted that the inspectors have recognised the achievements of our pupils, our quality of teaching, and our leadership and management, judging Thomas Coram to be a ‘good’ School.
“This is under the more demanding criteria of the current Ofsted inspection framework than at our last inspection in 2009.
“The whole team of pupils, staff and governors has achieved so much. This time last year I had just been appointed, but the new Thomas Coram School only came into being three months ago.
“Ofsted look at progress over time, and I’m so proud to be leading such a superb team of staff and pupils who are living this day-by-day.
“Our historical results show that pupils at Thomas Coram make good progress and reach high and improving standards, with higher ability pupils making better progress than their peers nationally.
“This focus on progress is underpinned by our Christian family ethos. We are committed to developing learners in striving to be the best that they can be.
“Ofsted have endorsed Thomas Coram’s development plans following the recent educational transition and, for me, this acknowledgement is crucial.
“Thomas Coram is a school which is never complacent about how well it has done and is always striving to be better. We’re on the journey to Outstanding.”
