A selection of the opportunities available this week through Volunteer Centre Dacorum.

BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION

The British Heart Foundation urgently needs volunteers to help at its charity shop in Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead.

This shop is full of fabulous donated goods, everything from pre-loved fashions and books to bric a brac.

If you are a fashionista with a love of shoes and bags, a bookworm or just a big kid at heart then maybe you could help out in the book room, accessories or toy department.

General assistants are also needed to sort donations, steam clothing to make garments look their best, welcome customers and keep the shop floor clean and tidy.

Times can be arranged to suit individuals.

DACORUM COMMUNITIES FOR LEARNING

Do you have a passion for learning together with the skills and time to become a trustee for Dacorum Communities for Learning?

This home grown charity offers new learning opportunities and runs affordable courses in IT, languages and the arts that are held in community centres in Hemel Hempstead and Tring.

The charity needs a new treasurer to help oversee the finances of the organisation.

Tasks include bookkeeping, invoicing and making monthly reports to the committee.

The right volunteer should have an understanding of charity finances and be proficient in Excel. Other members of the finance team will be around to offer training and advice initially.

Another vital role for this established charity is the trustee secretary. A new volunteer is needed who can deal with deal with correspondence and communicate with other organisations including the Charity Commission. This role will take around two hours of your time each week. Trustees meet every two months at Warners End Community Centre. If you have good IT skills and a PC at home, this could be the role for you.
