A West End theatre director was a guest judge as pupils took part in their school’s annual poetry recital competition.
Julian Woolford, whose most recent productions include Mrs Warren’s Profession, Oklahoma and Liberace: Live From Heaven, attended the contest at Haresfoot School on Friday.
The school’s marketing manager Helen Waterhouse said: “They thought he was entertaining because he did his own poem recital about school and they thought that was funny and laughed a lot.”
The overall winner of the contest was Year 5 student Charlotte Priestley,
Ms Waterhouse said: “The poems were all about around the world. Hers was about travelling to different countries.
“The nice thing was that so many pupils had written their own pomes this year when is was not a requirement.”
