Golden joy as Ebberns celebrates anniversary with industry award

Bathroom and kitchen specialist Ebberns has ended 2013 on a high, enjoying a bumper period of sales success and scooping a top award to reinforce celebrations marking its 30th anniversary.

The sales surge was boosted by campaigns in September and November which gave customers the chance to make 30 per cent savings on orders.

Managing director Tony Barber said: “The campaigns were a huge success. People took advantage of the offer, knowing that they could get 30 per cent off a new kitchen or bathroom worth more than £1,000 but have it installed at a date to suit them, even if that’s next year.

“They greatly appreciated this freedom and flexibility.”

It was a nationwide October promotion that led to a coveted mystery shopper award for the retailer, based in Hemel Hempstead’s Frogmore Road.

The promotion was mounted by some of the biggest names in bathroom brands to support independent firms.

Throughout the month mystery shopper visitors dropped in on retailers involved in the scheme and awarded marks for product knowledge, outstanding customer service, the way bathrooms were displayed, design and follow-up.

Welcoming the gold award his firm received, Tony Barber said: “I’d love to know who the mystery shoppers spoke to. It’s wonderful to be recognised in this way.”

The 30 year celebrations were particularly special for the firm’s general manager Kevin Leyman, who has been with the firm since the very beginning.

He said: “This is a really special time for Ebberns.

“It’s wonderful to see how Ebberns has flourished over the years and how our reputation for outstanding service and products goes from strength to strength.

“In addition to employing superb staff, I attribute the success of Ebberns to using only quality products, such as all our kitchen furniture, which comes from top British manufacturer Ellis Furniture.

“Our customers really value the British quality and design all backed up with outstanding guarantees and service.

“They know that British made is still the best.”

Ebberns began life as a small plumbing and trading counter in Ebberns Road and has expanded over three decades to today’s multi million pound hive of activity with two buildings, one dedicated to bathrooms and the other dedicated to kitchens.

The newly refurbished bathroom showroom features more than 70 displays and room settings while the kitchen showroom offers 18 full kitchen displays.
