The region’s ambulance service was called out 386 times to incidents in Herts on New Year’s Eve.
In total, across the entire eastern region, 2,164 calls were made to the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust between 7pm on the biggest party night of the year and 7am the following morning.
These were mostly made up of people who had fallen over, assault victims and sick patients.
Of the 2,164 call-outs, around 700 people were taken to hospital.
The number of calls were slightly down compared to New Year’s Eve in 2012.
Acting director of service delivery Rob Ashford said: “My thanks and praise go out to all our staff and volunteers who worked during this difficult shift.
“You have all been working as hard as ever over the festive period and I’m proud of all those who have been carrying out lifesaving work for the trust over the past few days.”
