ONE familiar face is leading the way and donning a dress for a good cause.

Hemel Hempstead MP Mike Penning tried out this brightly coloured number for size on Saturday.

He will be dressing up as the fairer sex and taking the streets for Dame for a Laugh – a fundraising walk on Sunday, April 1 for the Hospice of St Francis.

Mr Penning’s outfit, complete with a pink handbag and necklace, was put together by charity staff.

He said: “The hospice is such a fantastic organisation and if I can raise a few quid and at the same time have a laugh then so be it.

“The more people that sign up the better. If I can make an idiot of myself and my rugby friends can make themselves look silly, let’s all get on with it and have some fun.”

Also donning high heels, dresses and puckering up will be players from the Saracens Rugby Club

The event, kicking off at 2pm from Camelot Rugby Club in Hemel Hempstead, is the male version of the hospice’s annual ladies-only midnight walk but men are being asked to walk just two-and-a-half miles.

It costs £15 to take part and walkers are encouraged to get sponsored by friends and family too.
