Plans for four new semi-detached homes in the gardens of two existing houses came under fire at a planning meeting on Monday.
Neighbours of the proposed homes - which would fall between Station Road and Treehanger Close in Tring - said they would be overlooked.
They said the proposed four new parking spaces would not be enough.
Jeremy Wray said: “Their refuse collection point is one metre from my daughter’s bedroom.”
Tring Town Council also objected to the development proposals. Dacorum Borough Council will now decide whether planning permission for the new homes should be granted.
