court: A DJ ordered stun guns from China through the internet for him and his pals, a court heard.
Thomas Flemming, 38, of Langley Avenue, Hemel Hempstead, pleaded guilty to purchasing or acquiring a prohibited weapon at Luton Crown Court last Wednesday.
He was given a 12 month jail sentence suspended for 18 months and ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work and pay £600 in costs.
He placed an online order for five of the guns which comprised of a torchlight with two electrodes either side which could deliver an electric shock and are banned in the UK.
But when he revisited the site later he realised he had ordered five packets - each containing five stun guns.
When the goods arrived at Coventry Airport on February 27 they were intercepted by the Borders Agency and two days later Flemming was arrested.
Passing sentence Recorder Leslie Cuthbert told Flemming: “This was a moment of profound stupidity on your part.”
