Kate’s peace poster is a winner with Royal guest

A TEENAGER from Berkhamsted has been named British winner of the Lions International Peace Poster contest.

Kate Saunders, 13, was one of 23 merit award winners out of more than 350,000 entries from 60 countries for the international award.

She received $500 for her achievement during a ceremony at the House of Commons – and also received £100 from Berkhamsted Lions for winning the district level competition after entering through the town’s The Thomas Coram C of E Middle School.

Her winning painting was of her brother Tom, aged eight, staring at dove flying over planet Earth.

Kate said: “He’s pleased too, as he’s going to this school next year – they have a lot of copies of my picture on the walls.”
