A FORMER football and cricket club star who lost both legs through diabetes had his second prosthetic limb fitted yesterday.
Phil Waller, now 65, of Granville Road, Northchurch, was the leading goal-scorer for Berkhamsted Town FC when he played for the squad in the 1980s.
He also played for Hemel Hempstead Town FC in the 1960s and ’70s, played cricket at county level and was captain of the Wellcome Cricket Club.
Phil said: “I have always had a good life, and I still am having a good life. If they said: ‘Would you like your legs back? But you could never have played football,’ I would have said no.”
