FORMER workers at the Dexion factory in Hemel Hempstead held a one-off reunion yesterday to help with the writing of a new book.

The book will be an updated and more in depth look at the life and legacy of Demetrius Comino OBE, who founded Dexion and invented the brand.

The former employees of Dexion, who met at Leverstock Green Cricket Club, helped Demetrius’s daughter Anna Comino-James, who is editing the book, and Anthony Darbyshire, who is writing the book, find out more first-hand about the factory in Hemel Hempstead and what it was like to work for the company.

Both Anna and Anthony, pictured left with former Dexion staff, are trustees of the Comino Foundation, which was formed by Anna and her father in 1971.

Anna said: “My father was a formidable inventor and investor in people.

“The book will hopefully explore this and the values he held regarding always striving to improve things and make them better.

“Today has enabled us to meet people who knew things we didn’t, and will help to create a greater narrative.

“Thanks especially to Dave Allen who helped organise everything.”
