A CHRISTIAN book shop and post office that has been through ‘all but the locusts’ has been given £500 to help it recover.
The cash was given to Mike Tatum, chairman of Berkhamsted High Street’s The Way Inn, by the town’s chamber of commerce during its annual meeting last Wednesday.
Mr Tatum said: “It has been a tough time for us and we really appreciate this.
“This is fantastic for us.
“We have been through floods and all sorts – we did not get the locusts, but we did get everything else.”
The opening of art centre The Upstairs Gallery above the post office was delayed by weeks after a burst water main at the venue last year.
Chamber chairman Ron Cowie said: “We wanted the money to go to a business that’s unique and different to all the other services in town and run on a voluntary basis.”
