THE mobile phones of some customers on Vodafone contracts have been left useless for weeks because of a cable fault.
Mervyn Edgecombe, who lives in High Street, Berkhamsted, has been unable to get phone signal while at his home since March 30.
The delay in fixing the problem is because the damaged cable is on a building site and BT, which maintains cables and masts on behalf of Vodafone, needs the landlord’s permission to go onto the land.
Mervyn said: “It is ludicrous to think someone as big as Vodafone or BT cannot resolve it.”
A Vodafone spokesman could not say how many people have been affected but said the cable which feeds a mobile mast covers an area of around a mile.
Mervyn, 62, has been refunded his line rental for March. Others can apply for the same by calling 191 from their mobiles or 08700 700 191 from landlines.
