A charity darts night on Saturday raised more than £300 for Leukaemia Research.

It was held at Berkhamsted Football Club in memory of Stephen Norwood, also known as Ninky.

Stephen died of leukaemia at the age of 25 in 1988. He was a keen football player and played darts for his local pub, The Goat.

Every year since his death, the Ninky Norwood Charity Darts Competition has been held – and the tournament was won this year by Kevin Longmuir and Lucille Aiton.

Ninky’s brother Ian, 45, of Cross Oak Road, Berkhamsted, said: “The same couples play the darts year in year out with us and it is a great way to remember him. Ninky was very well-liked.”

The event was organised by Keith Edwardson this year.
