An inspirational teen rubbed shoulders with showbiz names, including Rod Stewart and Peter Andre, at one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events.
Jack Morrell and his family, from Felden, Hemel Hempstead, were invited to the Caudwell Children Diamond Butterfly Ball in Battersea Park on Thursday.
The 17-year-old was among a host of youngsters supported by the charity who were guests at the annual event.
Sir Bruce Forsyth, actor Anthony Head and the Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson were also there, while Jeffrey Archer appeared as the celebrity auctioneer.
Jack’s father Phillip, who runs Morrells sandwich shop in Maylands Avenue, said: “It was a wonderful night. Jack and I featured in a promotional video, which was one of the key parts of the programme.
“Our video was about Jack playing wheelchair football and afterwards Rod Stewart came over for a chat with him about his sporting prowess.
“We do hope it encouraged the guests to dig deep and raise as much money as possible for the charity.”
Caudwell Children has supported Jack, who has Duchenne muscular dystrophy, since 2006 when it provided him with a Storm Powerchair wheelchair worth £16,000.
