TEN apprenticeships are to be created at Dacorum Borough Council to help boost economic recovery.
Two graduate trainee positions will also be set up under the scheme, which will offer on-the-job training and recognised qualifications.
The project involves Job Centre Plus, West Herts College and the National Graduate Development Programme.
Voluntary sector organisations will also be encouraged to set up their own apprenticeships.
Leader of the council Councillor Andrew Williams said this week: “As a council we’re committed to leading the way in economic regeneration and with this scheme we are putting our money where our mouth is.
“I hope that this scheme will not only encourage more young people to join the council, but that it will also help to reduce unemployment among young people in Dacorum.”
