THE parents of poorly Jamie Hodgson are calling on the community to get behind them one last time to make the youngster’s dream of visiting Disney World come true.

Eddie and Christine Hodgson are facing a final push to hit the fundraising target to take their 11-year-old son on the once-in-a-lifetime trip.

They have already splashed out around £10,500 on flights to America and accommodation for the whole family using cash raked in through fundraising events and donations, but now another £2,500 is needed to pay for theme park tickets.

The parents spent hours on social networking sites spreading the word about Jamie’s Dream, which attracted the attention of superstar singers like Mick Hucknall and Paloma Faith who re-tweeted the couple’s posts.

Jamie, who lives with his family in Tring, suffers from congenital heart disease and other health problems, which means doctors do not know how long he has to live.

It means Eddie and Christine want to make every precious moment with their son as special as possible.

They hope the community will turn out to support a family fun day at Boxmoor’s Three Blackbirds pub on Saturday, July 14, running from 11am to midnight.

During the event, Eddie’s England shirt signed by players including David Beckham, Michael Owen, Steven Gerrard and John Terry will be raffled off, along with a giant dark chocolate Italian egg and other goodies. There will also be stalls, a tombola and entertainment.
