THE final preparations are under way for the arrival of the Olympic torch in Hemel Hempstead.
Torchbearers will carry the Olympic flame from Leverstock Green Road to St Albans Road, then around the Magic Roundabout to Leighton Buzzard Road. The relay will continue along Moor End Road, along Marlowes, and onto Queensway where it will leave Hemel Hempstead.
The relay is due to start at 4.58pm and finish by 5.52pm, but aim to arrive at least half-an-hour before the start.
To celebrate the relay, there will be plenty of activities throughout the day, including a retro sports days held outside Hemel Hempstead Civic Centre, a swimming gala at Hemel Hempstead Sportspace from 9.30am to 11am and a charity market in Market Square. Town centre events start from midday.
Councillor Andrew Williams, leader of Dacorum Borough Council, said: “It‘ll be a day to remember, so do come along and watch as the Olympic Flame is carried through the town.”
