THE hosepipe ban across Hemel Hempstead and Berkhamsted was lifted today (Monday).
Householders have been thanked by Veolia Water Central for their ‘incredible support’ during the summer ban and the water firm apologised for any inconvenience caused during the three-month restriction.
The ban was introduced on April 5 because of a serious drought in the South East of England following a severe lack of rainfall in the autumn and winter.
Thames Water, which serves Tring, suspended its hosepipe ban on June 14.
On lifting the ban in Hemel Hempstead and Berkhamsted, water resources manager at Veolia, Mike Pocock, said: “It must be stressed that groundwater levels still remain lower than normal, so we are asking our customers to continue to use water wisely.”
He also warned that a hosepipe ban next year is a possibility if there is not ‘prolonged and substantial rainfall’ this coming autumn and winter.
