OLYMPIC hero Max Whitlock will be forever recognised in the world of gymnastics after being awarded his own signature move on the parallel bars.
The 19-year-old from Adeyfield, Hemel Hempstead, helped the Team GB men’s artistic gymnastics team to bronze at London 2012, and his somersault move – The Whitlock – will now be added to the Federation Internationale de Gymnastique’s Table of Elements in the Code of Points section.
Original moves are named after the first gymnast to succesfully perform them at the World Championships or Olympics.
The Whitlock is an element which Max succesfully carried out in the team final, helping Team GB to win their historic bronze.
The youngster will now go on to compete in the individual pommel final at the North Greenwich Arena on Sunday, buoyed by his latest piece of good news.
