Adeyfield gymnast Max Whitlock - already a bronze medallist as part of the GB team - has bagged another bronze with a stunning individual display.
After qualifying in style for the final of the individual pommel horse discipline, Max produced a controlled and confident display to briefly head the rankings of the eight finalists.
But after setting the standard he could only sit and watch as the favourites, Hungarian Krisztian Berki and GB team mater Louis Smith showed what they could do.
Smith, performing last, produced a score to match Berki but could only claim the silver once judges took the difficulty of their routines into account.
Max, 19, was all smiles as he climbed on to the podium to receive his second medal of the London 2012 Games, watched by the Duchess of Cambridge and a delirious home crowd.
