The results of a special project collecting images and reminiscences of paper, papermaking and local history can be seen at a free exhibition at Frogmore Paper Mill in Apsley.
The Memory Bank project has collected film and audio recordings, photographs and quotes from ex-employees of the mill and John Dickinson’s, including papermakers, printers and local residents.
The project’s co-ordinator Tom Hunt said: “We certainly had no shortage of interviewees, with plenty of enthusiastic local people coming forward to share their memories. The openness and detail in their stories has created a rich and varied account of local history.
“Topics include John Dickinson’s, Frogmore Paper Mill, Apsley in Wartime, work as an industrial fireman, Watford’s print industry, sports at Shendish and many other areas of our history. I’d like to thank each of them for their time and hope they enjoy seeing their work on display.”
The exhibition is being held in the mill’s Peter Ingram Gallery until November 9. To find out more visit thepapertrail.org.uk
