A man in his 20s who got trapped in the toilet of his top-floor flat after its lock broke had to be rescued by firefighters on Friday night.
He had been in there for about an hour before deciding he would need their help getting out.
Another person at the Station Road flat in Hemel Hempstead rang 999, and rescue workers used a crowbar to force open the toilet door and free him.
Michael Probet, a crew commander at Hemel Hempstead Fire Station, said: “We were called at about 11.30pm and got him out within five minutes.”
In a separate incident at about 1.30am, firefighters were called to nearby Moor End Road to free people who had been trapped in a lift.
