A constant, high-pitched whistling sound is exasperating people in the Bennetts End area of Hemel Hempstead.
Natasha Graham, who lives on Partridges, said the incessant din has caused her children to lie awake at night, despite the fact she has double glazing throughout her home.
Ms Graham said: “There have to be more people out there who can hear it. I have put it on Facebook and others have told me it drives them nuts, too. It’s like a whistle or a loud fan.
“I just want to know where it is coming from so it can be sorted out, because I can’t get it out of my head.”
Katie Warner of Dacorum Borough Council said: “We can help residents to take action against noise nuisance.
“If the noise is continuous, the resident would need to report it to us, explaining how the noise is affecting them.
“Residents who are being affected should contact us on 01442 228000 and ask for Environmental Health.”
