Organisers of a major charity fundraising event due to be held later today have announced that it has been postponed because of the treacherous weather conditions.
The Chilterns Cycle Challenge in aid of Iain Rennie Hospice at Home would have seen cyclists tackling one of three routes taking in rural roads around the area – 10km, 35km or 75km.
The annual event was due to begin from Aylesbury’s Kingsbury Square at 9.30am.
The Tring-based charity’s Gemma Baxter said after the postponement was announced: “We have been monitoring the weather forecasts very closely and have taken this decision for safety reasons.
“We’re contacting everyone who has registered to explain and we are looking into the possibility of rescheduling the event for Sunday, April 7, and would ask your readers to check our {www.rennieway.org|website} for more information early next week.
“We apologise for any inconvenience but we have to put the safety of our participants first.”
