Highways slip-up sees wrong web link sent out

Highways chiefs have come under fire after an incorrect link for reporting potholes was sent out to councillors.

Tring mayor Nick Hollinghurst tweeted the link before being told that it did not work and had to send out another message on Twitter to put social networkers right.

He said: “I’m in despair about both the state of the highways and the state of the fault reporting system. You couldn’t make it up.”

A spokesman for Herts Highways said: “An email was sent to contacts at the Hertfordshire Association of Parish and Town Councils with a link to our online highways fault reporting system. The web link contained a typo – a forward slash was missing. This was corrected as soon as it was spotted and the email re-sent with a correction.”

Earlier this year Herts County Council made it easier for motorists to report potholes and other road faults by updating its online site.
