Health campaigners say they have been left disappointed by a new body that will be responsible for Dacorum’s health services.
Local patients handed over a petition – signed by 1,792 people – to the Herts Valleys Clinical Commissioning Group, which called for them to ‘stop local health services being broken up or taken over by irresponsible private companies’.
But campaigners claim the group has not promised to take ethical and social factors, such as employment practices and environmental policies, into account when commissioning services from the private sector. However, the new body did pledge to consult patients and spend money wisely.
