Thousands respond to hospital survey

More than 3,000 responses have been received to a survey about hospital car parking charges.

West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust – which runs Hemel Hempstead’s Urgent Care Centre and hospitals in Watford and St Albans – also asked for opinions on transport options.

The 24-question poll closed on Friday and the findings will be published next month.

It was launched after the trust’s new chief executive Samantha Jones said she wanted to hear the public’s views on the emotive subject of hospital car parking charges, which currently start at £4 for three hours.

The move came after it was announced that Blue Badge holders would have to start paying for parking and a bus service that runs between the three sites was to be scrapped.

The changes have been put on hold until the outcome of the survey, which is being analysed by an independent parking company.
