Dog owners are being encouraged to sign up to a scheme that helps fight crime and antisocial behaviour.
Dog Watch is inviting owners of four-legged friends to be the eyes and ears of the community while out and about in Abbots Langley by reporting suspicious activity to police.
People can find out more during a street meet event in Leavesden Country Park with police community support officer John Diaz on Saturday between 12.30pm and 1pm.
PCSO Diaz said: “Dog walkers regularly walk in areas and will notice anyone or anything out of the ordinary, so as part of Dog Watch they are encouraged to report suspicious behaviour to police. They also report graffiti or damage to street furniture to the council.
“Being part of Dog Watch is really easy and it won’t take up a large amount of your time. We already have almost 40 members who are really proactive. I would encourage any dog owners to come along and sign up.”
Members will be given regular updates about how their information has helped improve the areas where they live. They will also be given crime prevention advice.
