A crook’s unusual getaway vehicle – a bicycle – could hold the key to tracking a thief down after a bizarre robbery.
The robber, armed with a stun-gun, held up Daisy Chain Jewellers in Boxmoor on Tuesday morning – and then used a silver bike to make his escape. The bicycle had some red colouring and a pannier-type holdall.
Dacorum’s Chief Insp Glen Channer said: “He cycled a reasonable length through some busy areas so hopefully people saw him.”
The robber, who was chased, headed off towards Sportspace, down an alley to Horsecroft Road, towards the Fishery Inn pub and then the former Kodak tower.
He is thought to have made his escape along the canal near the town’s B&Q store. Anyone with information can contact police via the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference D1/13/2151.
