Rubbish dumped in the countryside was cleared within hours of an article being published about it on this website.
Our report yesterday had also contained a picture of the mess abandoned in Cupid Green Lane, near Grovehill.
Birthday cards, an employee handbook, letters about a couple getting divorced and two passport-sized photos of a woman were among the discarded items dumped at the roadside.
They had been there for days before our article was published.
But Dacorum Borough Council, which is responsible for clearing fly-tipped rubbish, had taken them all away within hours of our story’s publication.
The authority says it usually clears all fly-tipped rubbish within a week.
