Two cyclists who were injured after colliding with a car in Redbourn are still in hospital two days later.
Police and paramedics were called to the A5183 between the M1 and Redbourn at its junction with the single-track rural Luton Lane at 7.45pm on Wednesday.
A 59-year-old man was taken to St Mary’s Hospital in London, where he is now in a critical but stable condition. A second cyclist, aged 28, was also injured and was taken to the Luton and Dunstable Hospital, where he is now in a stable condition.
Police say it is believed that the pair collided with a silver Vauxhall Zafira, and are now appealing for witnesses.
PC Bob Hauxwell from the police collision investigation unit said: “I am trying to establish the circumstances of this incident and would appeal to anyone who saw it to get in touch with me as soon as possible using the police non-emergency number 101.”
