Dacorum-based councillors have been recognised at Herts County Council, with three successful candidates from this month’s elections now sitting on the cabinet.
Richard Roberts and Collette Wyatt-Lowe resume their positions as cabinet members for children’s services and adult care and health, while Terry Douris has replaced Stuart Pile, who lost out to the Liberal Democrats in the county elections, as the portfolio holder for highways, transport and waste management.
Councillor Wyatt-Lowe, who represents Hemel Hempstead North East at county level and Woodhall Farm on Dacorum Borough Council, said: “It is a hugely positive reflection on the quality of councillors that we have serving in Dacorum that three of them are considered worthy of being cabinet members at county level.”
Councillor Roberts, re-elected to the Kings Langley ward, said: “It shows the level of commitment from county councillors in Dacorum. We support our borough as well, and are delighted to do so.”
Councillor Douris, while excited to take on the new role which involves working with highways contractor Ringway and also now encompasses waste management, said he is sad to give up his current responsibility for planning and regeneration on Dacorum Borough Council. He said: “I am still getting to understand the enormity of the highways and transport department, because it is the service that is seen by absolutely everybody.
“It is always a wrench to give up a role you have been deeply involved with and thoroughly enjoyed, but this is a great opportunity to contribute to the whole of Herts. I will still be an active and enthusiastic member of Dacorum Borough Council.”
