A Berkhamsted man died after being hit by a train near Bedford on Wednesday, police have confirmed.
Stephen Gilbert Hockley Grace, of Oakwood, suffered multiple injuries in the incident near Kempston and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Trains between Bedford and Flitwick were suspended after the tragedy was reported just after 10.30am.
An inquest was opened on Friday, which would have been the dead man’s 46th birthday, and a fuller hearing will be held by Bedford coroner David Morris in due course
