Hertfordshire people produce an average of £23,808 each in goods and services to the UK economy.
That’s the third highest across all counties in England and something Herts County Council is keen to crow about.
According to research by the County Councils Network, Herts also has the fourth highest percentage (53 per cent) of people employed in knowledge-intensive occupations.
Chris Hayward, the council’s cabinet member for enterprise, said Hertfordshire is a great place to do business.
He said: “There may not be any big cities in Hertfordshire, but along with other counties, we are making a sizeable contribution to the UK’s economic output. We also have a well-educated population, making Hertfordshire a very attractive proposition for companies who need bright staff to take their businesses forward.”
He added that the council will work with business to attract high quality jobs and investment without comprising the character that makes Herts a ‘uniquely attractive place to live and work’.
