This is the rubbish that was dumped in Woodhall Farm – before it was alight by firebugs.
Smoke could later be seen from high above the houses in Tattershall Drive as crews from Hemel Hempstead firefighters rushed out to the flaming pile of trash.
Rosemary Scott said: “The rubbish was dumped behind the garages in Tattershall Drive and then set alight on Monday.”
She posted several pictures of the flytipped rubbish on social networking website Facebook today. She also posted a picture of smoke rising above people’s homes after the rubbish was set on fire.
Herts Fire and Rescue Service reported the blaze on micro-blogging website Twitter on Monday.
The service wrote: “We received multiple calls to a rubbish fire on Tattershall Drive. Hemel fire crew used a jet to put the fire out.”
The removal of flytipped rubbish is the responsibility of Dacorum Borough Council, which is aware of the rubbish in Tattershall Drive.
Spokesman Sara Hamilton said: “Most fly tipping is cleared within seven days. This is usually quicker but can take longer if specialist equipment is needed or the enforcement team need it for evidence.”
