A businesswoman is fed up with the ‘unbearable’ noise of drilling outside of her High Street beauty salon.

Hollie House says the racket made by roadworks at Hemel Hempstead’s Old Town is now deterring clients from visiting her home-based spa, House Beauty.

She says the noise is so loud it makes the walls and floor of her spa vibrate – and that it is that bad every day.

Writing on Facebook, she said: “The builders in the old town are making so much noise it’s unbearable.

“They have been drilling right outside my home since 8am this morning.

“How can I have clients over for relaxing treatments with this going on?”

The £1.3m project to make the High Street one-way is part of a wider scheme to regenerate Hemel Hempstead’s Old Town. Roadworks began on May 28 and are expected to last for 22 weeks.

Dacorum Borough Council and Herts County Council are behind the project.

Dacorum’s assistant director for planning, development and regeneration James Doe said: “Our contractors are trying to keep disruption to a minimum.”

You can report any concerns about the roadworks to Jamie Boast from Jackson Civil Engineering at JBoast@jackson-civils.co.uk or 01442 241474.
