An elderly cancer sufferer left isolated by a three-month telephone and internet fault is relieved she can now finally use the services she relies so heavily on.
Audrey Whippy, 76, lives alone in Gadebridge Lane and depends on her Sky phone and broadband to communicate with her family and order her food shopping online.
But in April, her system crashed and numerous call-outs failed to resolve the issue.
We contacted Sky on behalf of Ms Whippy, who has regular chemotherapy, and Sky have now rectified the problem.
The company’s Aaron Begg said: “We are very sorry for the difficulties Ms Whippy experienced with her Sky services and for the time it took to identify the technical issue that was the cause.” The company has agreed to credit her account for the loss of service.
However, Ms Whippy’s son Julian said: “This is a good result for mum, but it has left a very sour taste in her mouth.
“It has affected her wellbeing. She has so much else going on that she came to depend on these things. Hopefully we will see the other side of this now.”
