A pub in Hemel Hempstead which had to briefly close its doors two years ago following an outbreak of a vomiting bug has maintained its five star hygiene rating .
Staff at the Full House on Marlowes – part of the Wetherspoons chain – are celebrating after the pub received the top rating from hygiene experts.
The Scores on the Doors scheme judges establishments on how clean and well-managed their food preparation areas are.
Pub manager Anna Ward said: “I am delighted that we have gained the top rating and I’m sure our customers will welcome the news, too.”
Full House customers were struck down with the norovirus – also known as the winter vomiting bug – after visiting the pub in January 2011.
At the time, the decision was made by Wetherspoons to close the pub, allowing environmental officers to investigate. Staff then gave the pub a deep clean, before it reopened for business later that month.
