A green waste firm has helped tidy up the popular landmark.
A two-man team from Hemel Hempstead’s Waste King spent a day clearing rubbish from Dunstable Downs.
The National Trust had wanted to hire a skip until experts at Waste King explained that clearing the rubbish by hand is both greener and more cost effective.
Managing director Glenn Currie said: “The team collected eight cubic yards of rubbish.” He said doing the clean up by hand prevented damage to the environment, especially the plant life.
