A letter from Kensington Palace is the crowning glory of Hemel Hempstead’s Riverside Shopping Centre.

A royal thank-you note sent on behalf of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge addressed to centre manager David Robinson arrived on Tuesday.

The greeting also thanks the people of Hemel Hempstead for the giant card welcoming newborn Prince George, which was sent by the town centre mall to William and Kate just days after their son’s birth on July 22.

The king-sized card was set up in Debenhams, where 110 people wrote messages.

The letter, signed by Wills’ private secretary Miguel Head, included the words: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have asked me to thank you and all the shoppers and local residents of Hemel Hempstead very much for the amazing card you sent.”

Riverside’s David Robinson said: “We are delighted. It is wonderful that despite their Royal Highnesses receiving an abundance of gifts and cards from well-wishers, they have taken the time to write letters of thanks to everyone.”

Welcome more babies with Riverside’s microfarm this Saturday from 11am to 4pm.
