Scenes for a superhero film adapted from a cult comic book series have been shot at the Hemel Hempstead Hospital site.
Guardians of the Galaxy - the name of the superhero team that the 3D film is based on - is a futuristic science fiction adventure that follows a group of aliens in the 31st century tasked with the protection of earth, the time stream and the whole galaxy.
A spokesman for West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust, which owns the site, said: “A film company used the Hemel Hempstead hospital site for two days this week to film part of a new movie. The filming did not affect patient services in any way and the film company has made a donation to hospital funds for the use of our facilities.”
It has been rumoured that Vin Diesel will be providing the voice for the character of Groot - a tree like creature - and that Bradley Cooper could be the voice of Rocket Raccoon.
The film is due to hit the cinemas next summer.
