A Maylands business has stepped up its campaign to support local trade by encouraging people to back a government proposal to relax rules on double yellow line parking.
The idea from Just Insurance Services, based in Boundary Way, Hemel Hempstead, hopes to gauge support for a 15 minute ‘grace period’ on double yellow lines, allowing people to pop in and out of town centre shops. If the campaign reaches a certain level, they hope to produce the results in a petition to the local authorities.
Managing director Rob Pollard said: “We used to be in the centre of Hemel Hempstead and this issue was a pain for our clients.
“Relaxing parking in a safe manner is a sure way to get more people to shop in our high street, so we would support and feed back from local people who register their views by ‘liking’ our Keep Trade Local Facebook page.”
Herts Local Enterprise Partnership board member and acting chief executive of the county’s chamber of commerce Yolanda Rugg supports the campaign. She said: “The LEP wants to see Herts’ business communities thrive so it’s important that we investigate any new schemes or proposals that might aid our economy.”
