Holiday firm Haven raised almost £2,000 for Children in Need by taking donation calls from 7pm to 2am at its Hemel Hempstead head office on the charity’s appeal night - Friday, November 15.
The company pledged to raise £200,000 for the cause across all of its 35 holiday parks during the year. In Hemel Hempstead, the team promised to contribute £8,000 towards that total. But they have exceeded their target raising £9,600 and bringing the overall Haven total to £229,000.
Local fundraising efforts included bake sales in the Marlowes Shopping Centre, pictures with Pudsey Bear and one team member raised more than £600 by giving up smoking. Not only did he get sponsored for his healthy efforts but he also donated the money that he would have usually spent on cigarettes.
