A supermarket worker who was made famous by his ‘salmon song’ earlier this year is up to his old tricks again – this time dressed in a turkey suit.

Andy Wigston, a customer services assistant at Sainsbury’s in Apsley, is wearing the festive garb in a bid to get customers into the Christmas spirit and encourage them to pre-order their birds.

Former choirboy Andy said: “We want customers to ‘gobble gobble’ our festive turkeys.”

In January, The Gazette published a story about Andy’s salmon singing talents over the PA system, which earned him the title of Hemel Hempstead’s very own ‘one pound fish’ man in reference to the London market stall trader who became an internet sensation with his musical attempts to entice customers.

At the moment there is no turkey song to accompany the outfit, but Andy says he’s working on it.

Colleague Claire Williams said: “Andy is a great co-worker who helps drive our sales, and customers have been stopping to have pictures taken with him in the suit.

“Sainbury’s Apsley Mills would like to wish all our customers a merry Christmas.”
