A PRIORITY list of 26 roads has been drawn up where verge hardening is due to take place to create extra parking.
The list has been whittled down from 152 traffic-clogged areas in Dacorum that were put forward for the work, which allows vehicles to park on grass verges.
Council chiefs have set aside £400,000 for the project and that means only a restricted and undisclosed number of roads will benefit.
A meeting of Dacorum Borough Council’s housing and community scrutiny committee was asked why the majority of the top 10 roads were in Gadebridge and Leverstock Green.
Councillor Suqlain Mahmood, who represents Bennetts End, said: “Seventy per cent come from two or three areas, it’s Leverstock Green or Gadebridge. Are they the worst areas?
“It seems to me there are problems in two areas and maybe I did not lobby enough in Bennetts End.”
Seven of the top 10 roads are in Leverstock Green and Gadebridge, with Cowper Road in Markyate, Burns Drive in Woodhall Farm and Spring Lane in Warners End making up the rest.
