POLITICIANS were branded ‘undemocratic’ for ‘suppressing’ debate over their plan to introduce parking permits that scores of neighbours and businesses are against.
Under the plan by Berkhamsted Town Council, the town would be divided into two residents-only ‘zones’ in roads around the train station and Charles Street.
People who live there would have to pay £25 for an annual space inside the zones – but it would not guarantee them a space outside of their homes.
Many say it would in fact reduce the number of parking spaces for them and could push the problem into streets left out of the scheme.
