Crime stats fall in Dacorum

CRIME has fallen by almost 10 per cent across Dacorum – despite a 2.2 per cent rise in Tring, new figures show.

The crime level in Hemel Hempstead fell by 11.1 per cent between April 1, 2011, and February 29, 2012, compared with the same period in the pervious year.

That equates to 718 fewer crimes in the town, putting the total number of crimes at 5,774 in the more recent period.

The crime level fell by 7.8 per cent in Berkhamsted over the same two periods, cutting the number of crimes by 59 to 696.

In Tring, the crime level rose by 2.2 per cent over the two periods – raising the total number of crimes by 13 to 600.

Dacorum-wide crime fell by 9.8 per cent over the two periods, cutting crimes by 764 to 7,070.
