FIT football stalwart Steve Davis collected £318 in sponsorship for charity by running the Berkhamsted Half Marathon.
Berkhamsted Football Club chairman Steve ran for Dacorum Mencap, and gave the money to Chris Brown, one of its members.
Steve said: “The half marathon was harder than I thought it would be.
“I had never done anything like that before in my life. It was quite challenging, to be honest, as it’s not the flattest of courses.”
The 51-year-old got round it in 2hrs 50mins.
The presentation was made by Steve was done before a match between his team and Leverstock Green.
Supporters from Mencap were not the only ones with something to be happy about on that day – Steve’s team won 3-1.
