A BERKHAMSTED pub will be live on BBC London News tonight during a special feature about the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

It is planned that the organisers of nearby street parties will feature in the broadcast from The Rising Sun, which is between the Grand Union Canal and George Street.

The feature will focus on the fact that more people have applied to have jubilee parties in Herts than in any other county nationwide.

As the Gazette reported on Wednesday, Herts County Council’s figures show that it had 451 applications for road closures between Saturday and Tuesday.

The Rising Sun’s landlord Nigel Granger said: “Herts has always been a patriotic county and we know how to have a good party.

“This is going to be a wonderful weekend and the weather will not dampen anyone’s spirits.

“Regardless of whether you are a royalist or not, you have got to admire someone who has led the nation for as long as the Queen has.”

His pub will be on BBC1 between 6.30pm and 7pm tonight.

Ben Marston, marketing manager for Tring Brewery, will be there, speaking about the group’s celebratory Would Jubileve It beer.

The brewery has sold more than 10,000 pints of it in the last fortnight alone and the beer is now sold out.

He said: “We have almost run out of beer completely here for the first time. We’ve sold between 45,000 and 50,000 pints this week – compared to the 31,000 pints we produce in your average week.

“The demand has been getting on for if not greater than what we could normally expect at Christmas time here.

“We have gone from people celebrating the sun last week to people celebrating the jubilee this week and for both, they tend to like to have a large amount of beer – which works well for us.”

Tring Brewery was recently named Small Business of the Year in the Business Enterprise Awards, sponsored by SA Law, Alliotts Chartered Accountants and Business Advisors, BDO and HSBC.
